Local Charity Requesting Original Artwork to Benefit Pediatric Heart Patients at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego!

The sculpture entitled "Young at Heart" was created by legendary artist Nathan Sawaya specifically for CHIfund. The model of an anatomically correct human heart is constructed of more than 9,200 standard LEGO bricks and stands precariously on its tip at 32-inches tall.
It took Sawaya nearly 100 hours to create this heavy heart, weighing in at 35 pounds. According to the 34-year-old New York artist, the biggest challenge was balancing the structure so it could be viewed from 360 degrees.

The heart will be auctioned off in conjunction with the Helping Little Hearts Heal 5th Anniversary Fundraising Gala to be held on November 1, 2008. All proceeds from the auction will go to benefit Children’s Heart Institute at Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego.
