Five years ago a group of four “heart moms” banded together and held a fundraising event to raise money for Children’s Heart Institute. Little did they know that CHIfund would evolve into a thriving, active organization with countless supporters and dedicated volunteers whose goal is to raise money and awareness for Children’s Heart Institute at Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego.
To date, CHIfund has raised nearly $500,000 in donations, goods and services for Children’s Heart Institute. The funds have been used to purchase and update equipment used by both the Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgical Departments.

- Cardiac Ultrasound
- Sequoia 512 upgrade
- Digital Holter Monitors
- Echocardiograph Reading Station
- Paceart System
- NIRS Monitors
- Technological upgrade to Cardiac Surgical Auditorium
In addition, we continue to fund research that is vital to the understanding and treatment of congenital heart defects.
Through the generosity of our donors, CHIfund continues working to ensure that lifesaving surgeries and the highest quality of care are available to the littlest hearts of San Diego.
